Msa midi kit

December 28th, 2009

Now that Christmas is over, I’ve had chance to build the kit I bought from highly liquid. I’ve had a few of these in the past, and they are really good quality and easy to build and use, highly recommend!

Took about an hour to build and about 15 minutes to install into my dr-110 to replace the arduino-midi converter I whipped up on strip board that was in there.

Hi there, i’m really impressed with mods on the dr 110, ive just bought one myself. How did you go about installing the MSA midi kit into the DR 110? i would like to midi-fi my dr 110 but i’m not shure which option to go for.

    Regards

Hi, paul from circuitbenders.co.uk here. I’ve modded a few DR110′s for people with added DIN sync inputs but i thought i’d have a go at installing midi on mine with the MSA-P kit, with the outputs connected across the front panel button switching matrix, but i can’t get my head around how its possible to get the sounds to trigger so that you don’t other sounds triggering randomly. I can get them to all trigger fine individually but with 4 sounds using one common point and 3 using another i inevitably end up in a situation where you trigger two sound from one group and one sound from the other at the same time, and another sound it triggered as well i.e. if i trigger the snare, open hat and cymbal at the the same time, the clap sounds.
Did you manage to find a way around this as its driving me insane?
    Cheers
    Paul

Matt/Paul, I’m actually away in holland just now, but when o get back I’ll take it apart and take a few photos for you. The kit itself doesn’t fit in the case of the dr110 matt, I built it all into a larger enclosure.

And yeah, I had a few issues too Paul, but works nicely now. I’ll post the details for you upon my return.

    Cheers, bod.

    Hey there,

Have you had a chance to detail how you did the mod yet? Am itching to do mine, but i dont want to mess it up :) … Will the use of the sequencer be lost once the Msa Midi kit is added?

    Cheers

    Matt
